No Knead Overnight Peasant Loaf
Recently, I’ve been looking for ways to make a lot of things at home. Besides living in a time of inflation, our products are full of unhealthy ingredients that we consume regularly. Bread is a staple and yes, it’s much easier to grab a loaf from the grocery store, but you know what? Once you find an easy recipe and get the hang of it, it’s actually easy, cheaper and healthier! A win win all around. Alhamdulilah, I’ve now tried a few different types of bread such as farm bread and focaccia bread. Then I came across this recipe by https://www.instagram.com/ciciwonger and what can I say? This is the one. This is what we make now, it really is. It’s super simple, fun to make and tastes delicious.
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
1.5 tsp salt
½ tsp active dry yeast
1 ½ cups warm water (110 F)
Instructions
Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
Add in warm water.
Mix with a spatula or a wooden spoon until it forms a shaggy dough. Make sure to remove all the dough from the spatula or wooden spoon so that nothing goes to waste. Cover with saran wrap and leave it in a draft-free place, in the oven or microwave to rise for 12-16 hours or overnight.
Once risen, pre-heat the oven to 450 F which is 232 C with your cast iron pot or Dutch oven inside preheating as well.
Lightly dust a piece of parchment paper with flour. Pour out your dough, and roughly shape into a round-ish shape. The bread is meant to look rustic!
After the oven is preheated, remove the Dutch oven or your cast iron pot, –be careful as the pot is really hot! Carefully, place your dough with the parchment paper into the pot. Place the lid back on and place the pot into the oven.
Bake for 30 minutes, remove lid from pot and bake for another 15 minutes until the crust of your bread is golden brown.
And that’s it!! You’ve got yourself a simple and delicious, no preservatives, homemade bread. Slap some good quality, salty butter, say bismillah and enjoy your homemade bread!
