The Heart Breaks

The heart breaks, a million times over,

Yet goes on beating.

The eyes shed tears, a million tears,

Yet go on seeing.

The hand reaches out, as far as it can,

Yet grasps only empty air.

And the chaos doesn’t stop,

STOP

We must continue to shout

and stomp and raise our fists.

And fall on to the prayer mat.
